It's Pyrex Time!
Vitamins
Went through the cabinet and threw out ALL of our old vitamins (John seriously had stuff from 2003-yikes!). It's really important to take the right vitamins each day, so I decided a purge of the vitamin box and redesigning an easy, within-reach vitamin box for each of us was the best idea to remember to take them. Multi-vitamins are great, but be sure to read the back and know what you're taking. Omega Fatty acids are important, as is Glucosamine for bone strength. There is a wonderful supplement called Perfect Food Super Green. It is a bit expensive at around $25-$30 for a bottle, but has wonderful ingredients like wheat grass and kale.
Never replace vitamins with a true, nutritious diet of vegetables, fruit and lean protein like chicken, fish and eggs. However, taking proper vitamins is a great way to supplement your diet to ensure you are receiving your 100% daily value.

Trash Day? Oh wait, I think we missed it...
Sound familiar? John and I have been living on this street for two months now and we still could never really pin point the trash and recycle days. After yet another episode of Rico tearing into the trash bags in the back mud room where he sleeps, last night I came up with this ingenious idea: find out and post it on the refrigerator. I think others actually buy a Pottery Barn-esque kitchen posting area for notes, lists and dates, but I think my notepad paper and pen gets the job done rather nicely.
Mastering no carbs
Still chugging along on the no-carb diet that Kaitlin and I started (and had a Gin and Tonic party that night....not the point). Living on applesauce, cranberry juice and swiss cheese gets rather boring after a few days, so I've been looking for some yummy recipes that make this limiting diet more enjoyable. I've been craving Florida's Toojay's dill chicken salad. Here is a recipe I found that looks close-I think I'll try it out tomorrow.

My valiant effort to be domestic
Resulted in destroying John's beautiful cream cheese-stuffed jalepeno poppers in 2.5 seconds and a vat of boiling vegetable oil.....
Oh, failure! Actually, we found that if the charred coating is peeled off you can re-fry them just fine :) Just check the oil temperature over and over again. It's amazing how very simple the friers at the restaurants seem now that I've tried this myself. In slight depression from nearly ruining dinner, I turned to the library book I checked out on spotlessly cleaning the home. Saddened me further, though I did sweep the kitchen floor. I'll tackle the gigantic pile of laundry later in the weekend.
